Paintless dent repair usually works most effectively on small and medium dents to your vehicle. Think of things such as dents caused by hail, or a ding caused by a car door. These are the type of repairs that paintless dent repair techniques work best on.

Less Invasive Process

Paintless dent repair is one of the less invasive dent repair processes. The technique is going to figure out the best way to repair the dent while doing the minimum amount of work moving around the different parts of your car. It is also considered less invasive because by its very nature, your vehicle will not have to go through sanding and body fillers and painting all to fix a dent.

Assess the Damage

The first thing that happens with the paintless dent repair process is the technician will personally view the damage to your vehicle and will use state-of-the-art technology to look at the damage and see what is happening. The technician will use their own assessment and the information from their scanning technology to determine if this technique will work on the damage for your vehicle.

Gain Access to the Damage

Once the technician determines that PDR is the right technique for fixing your vehicle, they have to gain access to the backside of the damaged body panel. This can be a tricky process, and often requires removing the body panel from your vehicle for the repair process. Depending on where the damage is on your vehicle, this may require the removal of things such as interior panels and tail lights. Usually, mechanics will look for the easiest way to gain access to the panel that requires removing the smallest amount of parts.

Repair the Damage

Once the technician has access to the damage, they will use a special light that will show them where they need to place their tools. The technician will then place their special tools, which allow them to slowly, through the use of pressure, push the dent out and restore the original shape of the body panel. This is a slow and precise process that requires the ultimate precision on the part of the technician.
